What Does Retrograde Mean?

Planets don't actually move backwards — but from Earth's perspective, they appear to. As Earth overtakes a slower outer planet, or is overtaken by a faster inner planet, the planet seems to reverse course against the backdrop of stars. Astrologically, retrograde periods are times of review, revision, and reflection for the themes governed by that planet. They are not inherently bad — they are invitations to look inward rather than charge forward.
